They installed a 2-way viper auto-start in my vehicle. Here is how it works: 1 Park the car, put in neutral, engage the hand brake, make sure all windows are rolled up and push any button on the remote start remote. The engine will remain running. The engine will now turn off and auto-start is engaged. When the door is opened, the engine will turn off. Bonus feature for my Mazda is that it remembers all the settings when the car is turned off, so I make sure to turn on my rear-window defrost which also engages the heated mirrors and heated seats before I engage the auto-start.
